Our group gave Shriver's book a 3.7 out of 5 stars. There were several comments about the novel's vocabulary being a bit inflated, but others found its flights of prose quite engaging. Personally, I thought it rather delightful, if somewhat soul-destroying, with hints of delicious subtext that I am very comfortable leaving for a more distantly-eloquent generation to tease out.
