ABANDONED. Suspense/Mental Illness protagonist fears that he is in danger of a being murdered.

As I recall several years ago in High School the book I am searching for is fiction, maybe young adult. The genre is a suspense novel as the protagonist fears that he is in danger of a being murdered.The protagonist also came from an abusive household--I believe his mother was his main abuser. I read this novel in 2012-2013 and back then it had been published for several years. I want to say the novel is called THIRTEEN, I'm sure that's the title but when I looked it up the summary was not something I recognized. Also the author is male.The cover of the book as I remembered it was a glowy green/black.
That's all I remember and can say without revealing major spoilers!

Good point. Spoilers are sometimes needed to identify a book. A simple method is to type a bold SPOILER warning, leave a lot of blank/white space, then type the actual spoiler below.
