All the Light We Cannot See
question
need help remembering a title

I have been trying to remember the title of an excellent story of WW((:
The main family in it is from Poland or eastern Germany; they trek across Germany, trying to get away from the war. They take their horses and a cart and a Scottish soldier, who they have befriended (they hide him in the cart as they travel). There is a subplot about a Jewish family who was sent away by train (the young man gets off the train); he survives by killing German officers & stealing their uniforms.
The book is quite long and a great story. I also read "All the Light We Cannot See" and loved it as well.
Any help I can get with this title will be appreciated. Thank you.

Teddy,
Any luck remembering the name of the book you were looking for? If not, there's a group here on GR which is dedicated to trying to figure out these things. You might want to give them a try.

Your recollection sounds very similar to something I've read too. It is a long and great story by Ken Follet: "Fall of Giants." Perhaps this book might be the one you are trying to remember?
