Jenny Oo | 5 comments I'm fluent in German, English and Swedish. I'm currently learning Icelandic, Danish, Dutch and Spanish. But I want to learn as many languages as possible.

message 114: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 50 comments Some of these language combinations are so interesting! I'd love to know why/ how some of you learnt the languages that you know, especially all the more obscure ones like Icelandic and Korean (which at least seem obscure/ random to me hehe). I like how where you're from can influence the languages you learn, depending on your country's situation and what they teach in schools lol.

message 115: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Oo | 5 comments @Natasha yes Icelandic is one of the exotic languages. Without the Internet it wouldn't be possible for me to learn it, the University of Iceland has an incredible language learning site. And I'm learning it because of my Scandinavian obsession.

message 116: by Lyly (new)

Lyly (lldove) | 2 comments My native language is a English based creole called Crucian, and of course standard English, learning French and hopefully Spanish after. Very far of in the future I want to try my hand at either Korean, Urdu, or Portuguese.

message 117: by Sydney (new)

Sydney Humphrey (bjjgirl) | 27 comments @Natasha I'm learning Korean from a free online textbook. I really like it and it even has free audio attachments for pronunciation. Here's the link :) http://www.koreanfromzero.com

(By the way, the site is a little messed up at the moment, but just hit "download PDF" to get the book.)

message 118: by Sydney (new)

Sydney Humphrey (bjjgirl) | 27 comments @Jenny could you post a link to that language learning site you mentioned? It sounds like something that would interest me :)

message 120: by Anastasia (last edited May 23, 2015 11:06AM) (new)

Anastasia aka Taurendil (theanastasia) | 3 comments In addition to English, I speak Finnish, some Swedish and a tiny bit of German. Also, I'm kind of learning basic Irish, have been wanting to learn more Quenya (High-elvish), and there are a bunch of other ones I'd love to know. ^^

Has anyone heard about Duolingo, by the way? It's a fantastic place to learn new and revise what you've learned. There are new languages coming all the time, though the selection is quite wide already. Come and visit us! And if there's someone here who is familiar with the place, message me and we can be buddies!

message 121: by Sydney (new)

Sydney Humphrey (bjjgirl) | 27 comments I use Duolingo! At the moment, I am only using it as a supplement to my Spanish, but I intend to use it for more languages in the future. Unfortunately, it does not carry courses in Russian or Korean, which are the other two languages I am working on. However, I really like the app as a whole!

Wow, thank you! I just checked out those websites, and they look great! I bookmarked them. You can bet I'll be adding them to routine ;)

Buffy Naillon (buffytuf) | 2 comments German and English. I'd love to find some tandem language partners in this group for discussions.

Here's a bit about that:
