Theories and thoughts for the final book? (Spoilers from previous books)

I have a 6th sense feeling that Dorian is going to die and save them all...Or maybe Rowan is going to find a way to get Alin to use his power to forge the key instead of hers and he will die.
( That's the type of thing he'd do) or Alin will somehow survive the forging of the key but will never have magic again and live happily ever after like she always wanted without the "burden" of her power. Either way, I don't think it will end with her selfless sacrifice... though it would make for an Epic story... The Legend of the Queen that Was Promised.. but SJM could surprise us.
As for Chaol I can't say I've missed him after the way he was in the previous book but his human component was definitely missing in the mix. They're all swaggering immortals, unmatched Fae warriors, and witches with wiverns, and descendants of gods, and clever actress guided by a goddess, and shifters.... but Chaol, the bastard that he is, was wholly human, he made human mistakes and was a nice character to have around. Hopefully, he will come with a giant army and save the day.
I have been wondering about the spiders for a while I really hope they come back because spider silk is awesome but I've been wondering about Nox for forever. I mean Alin has called in every favor owed to her except for the healer and Nox. Either she doesn't know where he is or he is her final hand of cards and will do something awesome like... steal the final key from under Erawan's nose? that would be cool! and of course the healer and Chaol will meet and she will convince the southern continent to join the cause.....
... here you go.. someone responded

I honestly hadnt thought much of Nox until I saw something else mentioned about him. I meant to reread all the books before EOS, but I didn't. I think rereading them all together will yield new ideas. I recently read something with SJM saying how much she loved JK Rowling and the foreshadowing JK does. It sounds like SJM tried to do that as well.
I love Choal and how loyal he has always been to Dorian. How he acted in QOS didn't bother me much -- I think it was perfectly acceptable given everything that happened.
I love the characters, flaws and all. The only thing that I wish hadn't happend is that I wish Aelin had never told Choal that she would always choose him. I think SJM did an excellent job going back on that and saying how it was a different person who said that and all, but that line haunts me.
I don't remember how to spell her main rival in the first book. The one who she fights at the end that Choal kills. Anyway, when she was fighting him and everything happened, Elena or someone told her how the wicked will tell us things to haunt us after they are gone. I keep going back to the king and him saying he did everything to protect Dorian. Was that true or just something to haunt him?
I think Aelin and Rowan have to both end up surviving. Rowans comments about what he would do if death seperated them plus Mauves comments about their kids both make me think they make it.
I've also wondered if the court world happened in the past and its now the throne world or if they exist in different planes. Rhys is so set on everyone living together, which is what the throne world is. So, it is a possibility. However, were missing some of the species we've encountered in the court books so ultimately I think they are separate.
Have you ever read the graceling books? Someone the author did in those I think could be an interesting way for SJM to connect the two worlds here.
What do you think of Elide and Lorcan?

The thing with the king's last words is that we might never really find out. But we get to see the way the characters deal with it. Dorian obviously thinks its bs and I don't blame him( bad father, evil possession and torture considered but also the fact that IF his father had been good then it would add a lot of guilt and also mourning the fact that he never really knew him) and Aelin on the other hand, holds out hope, perhaps because she wants to see the good in people but more likely because some subconscious part of her needs to believe that the world is worth saving. So perhaps the king's last words are both to haunt them but also to give them hope. It only matters on how they chose to look at their world.
yea Aelin a Rowan will both probably end up surviving but if that happens then the people around them will end up paying a big price. SJM said that the ending would be "bitter -sweet" so basically it can't end happily ever after for everyone. And maybe I'm just paranoid but my guess is that Chaol will end up paying the ultimate price is some way or the other.
Yea. I have read the Graceling books.( the second one was my favorite) perhaps the worlds are connected that way but their " beginning of the world" stories and their magic are really quite different. So most likely they are separate completely. but it would be really cool to see Aelin and Feyre meet up in some other world for like an epilog book?
Elide and Lorcan have become some of my favorite people in the latest book. Elide is very different from most of the swaggering, all powerful cast of characters dominating this series but she's a nice difference and she's definitely not a helpless fool. but it's Lorcan who's really intriguing. His misguided quest and unrequired love for Maeve and then Elide in the picture. he is so torn between duty and this new thing that he's found. He's so lost and he tries to please Maeve so much, he's complex and honestly he's the one who never, not once, get's a break ... like just when he's found someone he likes he messes it all up ( with good intentions) and she ends up hating him. I just hope that he redeems himself in some way and Aelin forgives him.
Speaking of the Cadre, I love how when Gavriel, Fenris, and eventually Lorcan first join Aelin's band they all hate her and by the end they are all willing to go to the ends of the earth to get her back.
So, what do you tink about Manon and Dorian?

I hadn't thought much about the fact the magic and beginning of world stories were so different, but you're right about that.
I like Manon and Dorian. I shipped them from their first encounter and then her saving him. But with her being the last Queen and him being King, I don't see how they could be end game. So, it makes me think perhaps Dorian is the one who will end up sealing the keys. Which makes me sad because I think Dorian is such a good person. The biggest issue with him dying is who would be king. Perhaps somehow it could transfer to Chaol.
If Dorian could return to Sorcha (I am not spelling that right) upon him dying, I think in a way that could be a happy ending for him. Sacrificing his self for the kingdom and going back to her.
I personally am not a fan of books that don't have happy endings. I think of books as an escape from real life and I want them to end happily ever after. I recognize some people will die in war books, but I don't want main characters to.
I have sometimes wondered if perhaps Asterin's witchlng was not stillborn and that's how Elide ended up with Witch blood. I don't think Elide is her daughter, but perhaps a descendent. Her Hunter died of old age, so her baby perhaps could have had offspring and they also had offspring. Just a thought.
I like the Cadre and agree with you. I wonder if perhaps more of the fae who are sworn to Mauve will come over. Obviously not Cairn, but when the two were holding her down the one said to stop. He played it off because Rowan was coming, but I'm hoping Mauve and Cairn's cruelty cause others to see her true colors and want to help Aelin.
PS -- Fire was my favorite of the books too.

Yea, of course, I find myself always rooting for the happy endings but the ones that really get me are the painful ones or the ones where even though it ends happily it does not come easily. I think this will be one of those. It will probably end happily but it will definitely take a lot of hard work and sacrifice.
about Asterin's withchling, that is a brilliant idea! I have not thought of that before but it makes perfect sense. Asterin never actually saw her witchling. That is a very good idea.
Knowing Aelin, she goes in a helpless captive and in the least she gets out and takes Fenris with her and more likely she ends up turning everybody against Maeve, kills her, and comes back to the war with an army of Fae. it's just the thing that she would do.
I just can't wait to see the Cadre working together to find Aelin. I mean we've seen them interact before but now that three of them are on the same side and same mission I can't wait to see the awesomeness that will ensue. Plus Rowan is her mate, I wonder how that will affect his choices if any.

I want to talk about Fenr..."
There are 6 in the cadre as far as i remember - rowan, fenrys, connall, lorcan, gavriel and an unnamed male (unless i missed it somehow) so the 6th dude might be the third guy hunting Lorcan, which he deserves. He's too good for Elide and he made a serious mistake in summoning Maeve - didn't he realise that Elide had 2 Fae protectors and one of them was Aelin friggin' Galathinyus? It's like his stupidity is the reason he exists - to push forward the plot so that Aelin can sacrifice herself for one female she hasn't seen in 10 years for the sake of Lady Marion. He's an idiot and if he sacrifices his life to get Aelin out, I wouldn't shed a tear. Sorry if this is too harsh for the shippers out there but I just reread EoS and I honestly find Dorian and Manon better suited (not at all, really) than Lorcan and Elide.
I seriously need Rowan to beat the crap out of Maeve. Especially for all his reprimanding Aelin when she bitched about Maeve in HoF. Aelin got him and army, and as King he better use it to pay back Maeve. I can't take another fade-to-black death scene like for Arobynn.
I am still pissed about Rowan ignoring the fact of Aelin being his mate - despite thinking she may be pregnant. So let him be tortured for a while...
As for draining every drop of blood - I think it means Aelin will lose her thousand years and live a normal human spanned life, and maybe even without her powers. Or maybe she'll die and return to Sam, and trust the kingdom to Rowan, who will probably abdicate it to Lysandra and Aedion.
I have a feeling MCs are about to die in book 6 - maybe Lysandra/Aedion/Dorian/Chaol...

PS who eslse has a deep, deep hatred for Elana? If it weren't for her selfishness and idiocy, Aelin wouldn't be in this bind. I hope she comes through in the end and helps like she was meant to. I mean guiding Aelin is the only thing keeping her spirit from being destroyed so she better do something useful for once.
And I sincerely hope book #6 doesn't trun all serious and gruesome cause I'd miss the fun banter too much. Humor over action, any day :)

Q: Are the worlds of Prythian (from the A Court of Thorns and Roses series) and Erilea (from the Throne of Glass series) connected in any way, besides both having many hot Fae? ???
A: Hahaha, beyond the hot Fae, their two worlds are not connected at all. Though you could technically open a Wyrdgate in Erilea and walk into the world of ACOTAR… ;)
Does this mean that there's potential for a crossover? I hope so. Anyone else think that there's a possibility of a crossover? I also think that Dorian will be the sacrifice. If that's true, I would cry. Maybe since Rowan and Aelin are Carranam, they'd be able to seal the gate together? It said that it would take exactly all of Aelin's magic to seal it, but what if Rowan helped? I don't know, just please Sarah, don't let any of them to die, though I guess there's hope after the ending of ACOWAR.

So far we have seen that Ironteeth witches give birth to female witchlings only, who eventually become full-blooded witches. Regardless of who the man they concieve with are - Fae, Human, even Crochan Prince.
But I think that Elide has mixed blood - from another Crochan male and a human woman? That would kind of explain how the child would be human, with some witch-blood (because a human cannot give birth to a witch??)
Maybe this will tie in to her having magical powers in her fathers bloodline, and Crochan powers in her mother's bloodline. Since Vernon said she had potential. Maybe because she's a scion of Anneith, she has some sort of mind/people-manipulating ability? Since that's what she's great at doing normally.
Because all witches have the same blood - blue blood, who knows how a Crochan witch smells like? lol.

But what if she kills Aelin and gives her a rebirth who mates with Rowan after another 15years?

My bet is that Rowan is gonna kill Maeve.
And Aelin is gonna kill Erawan.
Why? Why not Aelin kill Maeve?
Well.
Arobynn mentored Aelin, abused her mentally, physically, he killed Sam, tortured her, and lots more. She had countless reasons to kill him, but instead, it was Lysandra, because she went through the same and A LOT LOT worse.
The unnamed king of Adarlan, (under Valg influence) basically killed her family, mentally tortured her, sent her to Endovier, and kinda destroyed Terrasen. She had plenty reasons to kill him, but instead, it was Dorian, who was constantly lied to, abused, and more.
MAEVE FRICKING MAEVE.
UGHHH
Aelin is in her... um... current situation with Maeve *endless sobs*. And after everything with her family and maeve. After everything with her and Rowan. After her friends, she has plenty of reasons to kill Maeve.
But. Ma boy, Hawk babe, Rowan, will (i hope) kill Maeve. After YEARS AND DECADES of commands and torture, threats to him and his friends, after CONFIRMING A -fake- MATING BOND (i think), AND THEN KILLING HIS 'MATE', HER MANIPULATING HIM AND AELIN, after taking him on his lowest point and swearing a bond of blind loyalty and obedience. Then. His actual mate. Then e v e r y t h i n g w i t h a e l i n. Hurting his friends, his mate. DESTROYING BOTH THEIR LIVES. TORTURING HIS MATE. AT HER WEAKEST. DESTROYING THE BONDS WITH DISHONOR FOR HIS FRIENDS. AND JUST WREAKING THINGS AND DESTROYING LIVES.
I mean I just really want H I M to kill her.
Then there is Erawan. Who, kinda, (him and Maeve?) started this whole valg thing.
Because the valg are the reason for Aelins... fate/destiny - the whole Nameless thing.
If it wasn't for the Valg, if it wasn't for the whole Erawen-didn't-die thing, hr Parents probably wouldn't of died. She wouldn't of been sent to Arobynn, she wouldn't have gone to Endovier, she wouldn't of gone to the glass castle for the competition and done all those tasks Elena sent her. So many people wouldn't of died and she probably wouldn't have killed anyone either. So many bad things wouldn't of happened.
And so I think she'll take a dramatic, long, killing blow at the main Valg king himself. For her Parents. For Sam, for Nehemia, for her friends, for her family, for her mate. And, for herself.
pft... Idk just a thought.
ALTHOUGH - Lorcan.
Hmm i d k

what if Aelin melts the coffin??
What if Rowan sends (can he do that?) his power and energy and her mate and carranam. What if she saves up her power, and yes I know iron is immune to magic, but It was said that fire power was very rare and more powerful ( Heir of Fire I think ).
idk now im desprate it's midnight and i want my babes to live please sarah le T T H E M L I V E P L E A S E

I personally thought the whole Elide is a witch was stupid, but it means that she may be immortal....so more evidence that she is Lorcan's mate I guess.
SARAH J. MAAS IF YOU KILL THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERS I WILL JUMP OFF A ROOF WITH A NOTE IN MY HAND THAT SAYS SARAH J MAAS KILLED ME:
-Dorian
-Lorcan
-Elide
-Aedion
-Lysanda
-f**king FLEETFOOT
-Abraxos
-Fenrys
-and last but not least Galan(I have no idea why I like him so much)

SJM said the only character that will 100% survive the final book is Fleetfoot.

I'm rereading Heir of Fire. Where we first met Maeve.
There are things about that first interaction that intrigue me, now that we know she is Valg, not Fae. First: she is not held to her word about whether she tells the truth to Aelin about the keys, it is only assumed she does so in saying she doesn't break her promises. It also seems that much of the misinformation that the dead relatives of Aelin had (like when Aelin asks whether Maeve is Valg in Empire of Storms), may have been sewn by Maeve herself with her mental prowess. Due to that, we don't know how that gate really works, at least if this theory turns out true. She could've said anything she wanted, and it would've been assumed true. Master manipulator that Maeve is, of course.
Second: She states that she wants Aelin to become Queen. Queen of the Valg perhaps in her place? Or a queen to manipulate and own as she once did to Rowan. It could also be Queen in the Fae realms too. We just don't know, Maeve's plans are very wide-spread, so we'll see when we see. Lots of potential twists coming.
Knowing what she does of Fae culture, she knows Rowan is coming. She also knows what's left of the cadre is also likely coming with him. Really, I can't wait to see how this unfolds.
One more thought: is the blackbeak Matron a Valg prince(ss), similar to how Maeve is hiding out, or perhaps just controlled by one? She'd been acting out of character, ruthless as she is, against the well-being of the covens, not to mention bowing to "humans", something Manon seemed shocked by. It makes me think she or what she's controlled by is at the least Valg, in showing any respect in that manner. It makes me wonder if she, like the former King of Adarlan is only doing what she can within the limits she can, if she's controlled by one.
There's also the fact that the Valg are afraid of Manon due to her eye color.. Maas made a huge deal out of pointing that out multiple times... makes you wonder why that will be important later.

Such a good catch about the fact Maeve doesn’t havw to tell the truth!
This is not my catch — someone else posted it. But it’s the fact that Rowan is always referred to as prince of Doranelle. And he’s a direct descendant of Mora. Maeve isn’t fae, so that means that Rowan is technically the king of doranelle. That kinda blew my mind the first time I read it haha

Such a good catch about the fact Maeve doesn’t havw to tell the truth!

Yet another way to make Aelin queen. Interesting.
Especially since Maeve may very well be the real "Queen who was promised". Here's another thing: if aelin can kick a goddess(Deanna) out of her body/mind, I don't know that maeve stands a chance at holding her for long.
Three queens, all promised, in one way or another. Aelin, Maeve, Manon.

Such a good catch about the fact Maeve doesn’t havw to tell the truth!

She did kick Deanna out but only because Rowan jumped in front of her and since Fae can't hurt their mates, Aelin was able to take control again.
Aelin could let Deanna possess to melt the iron coffin like she melted the iron chains in the battle at Pirate's Bay, but Deanna might still have control after that. Hopefully Rowan can bring her back this time as well

-SPOILERS sorta-
amarantha tortured feyre to the point of no return and like rhys (and tamlin the tool) had to watch on as the love of their lives was made to heel
-END sorta SPOILERS-
and i kinda wanted something to happen like this? where maeve tortures aelin to a certain point and its really hard for her to get back to where she was before and only like the elentiya thing or rowan or fleetfoot or someone/thing can bring her back.
am i a sadist? maybe but i feel like itd be cool

Aelin cant melt iron we saw magic fail when she was in the library with Dorian and it was because the door was iron. Thats why Maeve chose an iron cage, if Aelin could melt it she wouldnt be in it.
The other theory is that Aelin will let Deanna in to melt the coffin, Deanna only took over because Aelin had the Wryd Key on which Dorian and Manon now have so thats not possible either.
I really really like the "Three Queens who were promised" theory. Makes sense with how SJM writes weaving everything together.
I do think that Manon's grandmother has a Valg in her because of the respect shown to humans and the willingness to sacrifice witches and witchlings, also in the meadow scene where Lysandra is in the slave wagon Manon's grandmother is described to have billowing black fabric around her despite the fact that there was no wind which is very Valg.
I dont think Maeve will put a Valg princess/prince in Aelin bc shes said that she wants to break her and leash her to her side not destroy Alein. And whos to say Aelins fire magic (what Maeve wants to protect herself) wont disappear or turn into Kaltains shadow fire if she is inhabited by a Valg Demon?? Just a thought

No, the healers don't have a key.
Duke Perrington/Erawan has one
Kaltain had the second that found it's way to Aelin
And the third is the Amulet of Orynth, also with Aelin
However before Aelin was captured, she gave both keys to Manon

Last thought: if The healers did have a key it would make a lot of sense for why they are all so powerful and have withstood multiple empires rising and falling.

I just reread HoF, and I found this little quote: "Once upon a time, in a land long since burned to ash, there lived a young princess who loved her kingdom...very much."
It's when Aelin finally tells her full tale to someone (hottie Rowan, of course), but seeing as how thorough Sarah J. Maas is with her foreshadowing, I'm fairly convinced this a clue pointing at a (more or less) happy ending. She is going to return to her kingdom of ash to rebuild. I just know it.

at the same time it would be original and very surprising if she died, as almost zero authors ever take the risk if killing their main characters off.
i dont think lysandra or aedion will die, but if one of them did it would be aedion ( and he could have impregnated lysandra before dying).
this sounds bad, but i would 1000% have dorian killed if that meant aelin could live. and i mean alive and immortal and with her powers but thats super unlikely. i hope he sacrifices himself and saves her, tho aelin will probably end up sacrificing her powers or immortality. and rowan better not sacrifice his life for anyone.
finally i think yrene will have a pivotal role on this books with her powers and all.

Dorian and Elide really stick out among the group, because they're the only members who are truly good. So, if it means that Aelin, Aedion, Manon, Lysandra, or Rowan has to die, I would gladly kill them off to save Dorian and Elide.

revolution?
I'll think about it...

Bet you all Nehemia will come back to life in some other form, she'll probably get her hands on a Wyrdkey, and then infiltrate the Valg realm.

Dorian and Elide really stick out among the group, because they're the only members who are truly good. So, ..."
Aelin dying would be okay, but the trauma it would infect the rest of the world with would be too much, it might be like those annoying scenarios when someone dies and then comes back to life, and I can't be the only one who doesn't like that. BUT Aelin dying, and then coming back to life and then dying again would be cool, and sad, but it will be very exciting to read about.

I want to talk about Fenrys being able to Winnow. Do you think the last time the keys were used, someone from the court of nightmares came into the throne books and that's where his abilities come from? Or just coincidence?
I am hoping for a happy ending. How could all of either Dorian or Aelin's blood be drained and they still survive it? Something about the mating bond and her holding onto it until someone can revive her? I feel there is already a lot of similarities between both series so it wouldn't surprise me.
Will more sea dragons return? I was never sure if they were indeed a myth or real.
The spiders have to play some sort of role. Aelin told the trader she would kill one and Mannon also has to off one, so I think we have to see them again. Would they fight? Or perhaps just be taken down so Aelin can outfit her sliders in spider silk?
Obviously chaol will show up in a big way in the next book. I k ow a lot of people are upset that he wasn't in the fifth, but I think that just foreshadows that if she had shown that hand, it would have spoiled something.
Do you think Aelin will stay in Maeve's clutches long? I think mauve clearly has to die, not only to stop the constant threat but to also free the twins.
When Graviel and Fenrys appeared, they referenced a third fae that was also hunting Lorcan. My hope is that he leads them to Mauve.
I have many more thoughts. But will wait to post them until I see if anyone responds to this.
