I AM LOOKING FOR A BOOK ON.........?

I'm looking for books on World War II, specifically lesser known stories. I've read some books on the larger battles and better known aspects (holocaust, battle of the bulge, Normandy). I'm looking for the "smaller" type of stories - the history we don't often read about. For example, smaller or lesser known battles, stories of nurses or doctors on the front lines, or stories of smugglers or spies. There is an OK historical fiction book from Kristin Harmel called The Book of Lost Names about document forgers - I'd love to read a non-fiction account about that same subject.

Hi, Kristen! There's probably thousands of books that fit that mold, haha. It's kind of amazing how many crazy "untold stories" about World War II there are. There's dozens of books like that coming out every single year.
This is likely a tiny sample, but maybe these will fit the bill:
by
Ben Macintyre
by
Max Hastings
by
Neal Bascomb
by
Giles Milton

Peter Harmsen

I know - I tried finding books on my own and was immediately overwhelmed. I'm happy I found this group and was hoping to get some good recommendations by people more well read than myself on the topic. I'll check out the books you listed - thank you so much!
Jerome, and Kristen then, there are those massive piles of books on Churchill and FDR … And Stalin is even making a come-back … on Churchill’s Hats, and Financial acumen, or lack thereof .. on FDR’s Stamp collection, etc., etc., etc.Regards,
