My dad used to read me this book when I was a kid, had to be late 80s early 90s. It was about the big balloons in the Thanksgiving Parade. There was a baby that seemed to be out and about and finds its way into the parade. At one point a big balloon of a policeman startles a thief in an apartment and if I remember correctly, the baby gets the credit for nabbing the thief.

A long shot - Over the River and Through the Wood by Lydia Maria Francis Child? This book has different covers.
One Amazon reviewer says: "...a family is driving by the Macy's parade as they leave town for their grandparents' house, the baby crawls out the window during a traffic jam, gets tossed about through the parade, rides some balloons, and ends up safely delivered to Grandmother's house just in time for the family to arrive and eat a traditional dinner together... except the baby steals the pumpkin pie. "

Thank you for the suggestion, but by the same book. I'll have to add this to my holiday collection though, my daughter will love it! I appreciate your time and help.
