I wish I were cooler but I don't get it...Willy Wonka is a Dahl character. If a child opened a Willy Wonka chocolate bar that had the golden ticket in it they won a million dollars. So...yeah, I missed something here. Willy Wonka is not a euphemism I am aware of.

In all seriousness, she sounds a lot like Bo, one of the hottest characters to come out of paranormal/urban fantasy. The call-back to the 70s is also interesting. We get any historical events being played out in the background?

Hint: my heroine is not exactly a Human herself. As for historical events, I am still writing the novel but there is already a mention of the Gulf Oil Embargo Crisis and the Vietnam War. Nixon' fall is next.

Perfect, first thing I was going to suggest is including the OPEC crisis. Any mention of the Yom Kippur War? I know the two go hand in hand, but that's the other thing I think about when I think of 1973.
