A few years back I read two books in a series about a family of burglars/thieves. Son is main character. Father may be suffering from dementia. Mother is straitlaced. Younger sister wants to be actress. His one uncle is missing and the other knows something about it. Takes place in Eastern U.S. I think son is trying to go straight but not clear. He is certainly known well with criminal element, respected. Smart. Best friend married girl of his dreams and is in hiding… the friend is an auto mechanic. They are estranged.
