Larry Macklin is a deputy sheriff in rural Florida, unfortunately Larry really doesn’t want to be in this job, making the gruesome murder of a stranger all that more difficult to solve. The search for the victim’s identity leads Larry to his father and his father’s past.
There are a lot of relationship issues going on here, and sometimes that can bog a story down, but I thought this was well done and left you with a sense of who was who. Clearly this was set up to be the first in a series, I liked that aspect as well, as I’m a huge fan of series books, especially mysteries. Although I did figure out who the bad guy was before the end, I still enjoyed the chase. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fun new series with a great cast of characters.
