Crest and Shield question

So I'm working on a new series Crest and Shield, which is about a group of pilots sent to take a stationary target led by a diabolical leader. I've written all five books and the story had been laid out for over two years. In comes Rouge One. Now, I know there's nothing new under the Sun. I haven't watched anything on it, but being such a big Star Wars fan, I know what's coming. There's going to be SO many similarities. After all the planning and hard work it just doesn't even seem worth it anymore. Extremely disheartened.
