Quantum (quantumkatana) What's your favorite romance trope? Billionaire? Bad boy? Athlete? College?

Mine is Tsundere--initially tough on the outside, but kind on the inside, which is eventually outwardly expressed. (See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsundere). Bad boy kind of falls into this trope.

message 3: by Quantum (new)

Quantum (quantumkatana) But there are different alpha male careers/lifestyles, right?

message 4: by Annie (new)

Annie Arcane (anniearcane) Yep, but I dig em all...

Billionaire alpha? Check
Mob alpha? Check
Slave trainer alpha? Check
Biker gang alpha? Check
Ex-convict alpha? Check
Legit dom alpha? Cheeeeeeck!!!!

Sola (theviolentvixenreviews) | 33 comments Alphas are good... real good! My favorite is the werewolf alpha though.
I do like MC romances, though I've found that I've gotten really picky about which ones I read, there's just so much mediocrity out there now :(
I'm a really big fan or dom-types. I'm not a big fan of 50 shades, but give me some of Shayla Black's Wicked Lovers series and I'm in heaven.

Annie Arcane (anniearcane) Hey, Miss Courtney!

Do you think Grey is even a sexy dom? Cuz during the lightning round of a recent blog interview I was asked: Christian Grey or Kellan Kyle?

My answer: Kellan Kyle. Grey is such a pansy.

Tee Hee.

I've never gotten into shifters myself. Who's your fave werewolf alpha hero/series?

message 7: by Sola (new)

Sola (theviolentvixenreviews) | 33 comments Not really. I'm more into Doms that aren't afraid of themselves.
I've got 2, Clay from Kelly Armstrong's Otherworld Series and Hunter from Aimee Easterling's new Alpha Underground series.

Sola (theviolentvixenreviews) | 33 comments Anytime :) There are some other really good ones, but I'll have to dig through my ridiculous calibre library to find them. I've got over 10,000 books on my computer.... *smiles sheepishly*

how about alien romances? i'd heard that they are hot, right now?

message 12: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan Hi Alex,

Does future vampire romance in space count? There is this Discovered (The Forsaken Blood Series, #1) by Em Taylor Forsaken series by an author named Em who I came across in another group.

It might fit the bill.

Nik Krasno | 19888 comments Having MC both billionaire and mob alpha, I guess I'm reclassifying my stuff into anti-romance -:)

I actually read a really good one just recently. It was this one:
Trapped with the Cyborg
It was really good! Ok.... so I guess it was cyborg romance moreso than alien, but there were lots of aliens in it. And I believe the other books in the series are alien/cyborg relationships instead of cyborg/cyborg.

And Graeme's post reminded me of the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian. I really can't say much about the alien-ness about it without ruining the entire first book. But read it, it's interesting. I did lose interest after book 12. Book 13 jumps way ahead to the next generation and it feels like she's just trying to force the series to make more money instead of really trying to write a good story, but 1-12 were good reads.
Kiss of Midnight

(On a side note, how do you get it to show covers for books instead of just links?)

cool. thx!

1. go to the GR book page.
2. right-click the image, select copy image location.
3. in your post, use the img html tag and paste the image location into the src attribute; for example (tag delimiters (greater than/less than) removed b/c they don't come thru in GR comments): src img="https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net..."

Marie Silk | 1025 comments This is a genre that I have hardly dipped my toe in. However, I did recently read a book that is classified romance called Savaged Lands by Lana Kortchik but I am not sure that is the kind of romance described in this thread. It is historical and not ideal circumstances (war torn country) but it is one of the best books I've ever read and the romance was beautiful.
