Actually, checking that box just allows your review to show up on a Reviews Widget, which can be embedded into any website (a.k.a. 3rd party) post or page. Example:

When readers don't check this box, their review doesn't appear there. Hope that helps a bit, guys!!

With reviewer's or blogger's permission to quote in full of course.
Or after confirming via the review site's TOS to see if they tell reviewers any reviews posted are posting as open archive, public domain, etc.
If not released for public use by agreeing to TOS saying so, then after obtaining reprint permission when posted on sites that assure reviewers their reviews are their copyright even if now proprietary to the site either exclusive or nonexclusive (like Amazon.com and goodreads). Goodreads review guidelines reassure their members that "...Your thoughts and your words are yours, and we promise you we will always respect that." (source: https://www.goodreads.com/review/guid... ) as do the terms of service (granting goodreads the right to use your content, not converting it to open archive or public domain use).
Yes, I know, goodreads settings allow members to check a box to allow goodreads to share their reviews with third parties but by "third parties" goodreads means sites that pay to subscribe to the goodreads review feed (like google play, fictiondb, various libraries, etc.) not that any third parties including book authors can now use.
[In fact, to the best of my knowledge, selecting to allow goodreads to share your reviews with third parties is not even visible to anyone including authors (when looking at someone's review or their profile it doesn't say if they did or did not opt into third party sharing); the only way to know is to peruse one of the third party sites subscribing to the goodreads feed looking for that review (and even at that providing permission to goodreads third party subscribers doesn't necessarily mean providing permission to others)-- some sites including subscriber Google Play illegally scrape goodreads reviews.]

If you ever offer review copies or ARCs, many authors note in that offer that by accepting the free book the reviewer is granting author permission to use/quote the resulting review.
