What are you reading in September 2016?
I just finished Carmilla The blurb describes it as: "A classic Victorian vampire novella, which influenced Bram Stoker's later treatment of the vampire mythos in Dracula "It's in the public domain, free here: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/searc...
I'm reading The Wise Man's Fear and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. I'm really struggling to find time and energy to read at the moment, which is sad. I used to easily read one or two books a month. Now there's probably some months when I don't finish anything!

I'm totally in The Darkness That Comes Before, which the month's read. I'm also finishing Prince Caspian with my 8-year old daughter. I'm also planning to give a try to the second book in the chronicles of amber series, The Guns of Avalon. I hope to get trhough them all!!

I tried to read The Eternity Cure but only got a few pages before I hit a pet peeve. On the plus side, I got a blog post out of it.
Then I got The Future Falls out of the library and devoured it in less than a day. This is the third book in the saga of the Gale family, which doesn't have a name. The first book was The Enchantment Emporium and the second was The Wild Ways. Like the Keeper Chronicles before this, the series starts with a strong dramatic opening, which then transitions into somewhat more comic and bantery adventures. The Future Falls has various members of the family, who are consumed with thoughts of the futures they expect, or the future they can't have, suddenly discovering they may not have so much of a future after all.

"I was thinking of a buddy read with The Guns of Avalon, if there's interest.
Perhaps I'll be ready when you are.
I finished The Dispossessed the other day. It was interesting. Very philosophical. Now I've been reading The Girl on the Train. Don't really know what to make of it yet.

I read Narnia when I was eight, I loved that one.

I'm current reading assasin a quest,, just about done and really enjoyed the Farseer trilogy. I saw some people are reading wise man fear. I'm really enjoyed the king killer chronicles, I thought that the name of the wind was a truly amazing book. I'm halfway through assassins quest and was planning on finishing the Mistborn trilogy with the hero of ages next or maybe start the liveship traders trilogy with ship of magic. But maybe I'll give the darkness that comes before a check out too

I've been told at the "nine princes in amber" forum that I had to read the other books in order to fully grasp the epic scale in the series... So that's what I'm going to. I'm half through the darkness that comes before, so maybe on finishing it would be a good starting point!!
Finished Elemental Magic: All-New Tales of the Elemental Masters. Still writing my review but overall it was a enjoyable read. Started Elementary: All-New Tales of the Elemental Masters to continue stories like this. I really like them and they make great bedtime tales. Also still reading Wheel of the Infinite.
Helen wrote: "Javier wrote: "I'm totally in The Darkness That Comes Before, which the month's read. I'm also finishing Prince Caspian with my 8-year old daughter. Woohoo, you're in a buddy read!

Got back from my trip, didn't finish the Tiger and the Wolf cause I was busy gallivanting about the countryside etc but finished Sourcery (discworld)... Didn't like it. But I don't like the Rincewind books so I'll continue on cause I like the Witches and Death. Also finishing up the Raven Cycle on audio and continuing on with the Cornwell Saxon Stories with the Pale Horseman. Love the tv show too.. Uhtred is such a hunk

I have read The Queen's Poisoner and enjoyed it. I plan on reading the other books in the series. I am also reading Empire of Storms and plan on reading Magic Binds and A Shattered Empire when they are released this month.

I've got a lot on at the moment study and work wise, but once I get through a few things I should have more time for leisure reading!

I completely sympathize, Caitlin. Work and school are combining to take me out too lol. And just when I think I'm coming home to a relaxing evening finally, I find that our water's been cut off because a spicket got broken in our yard. Oh, and the internet was out.So yeah....I understand how life gets in the way...:)
Finished! with A Dance with Dragons; next up, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. And then, I'll join the rest of you in the long, long, long wait.
DNF'ed the Tiger and the Wolf by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I really wanted to like it, I just couldn't get into it! But if you're looking for a fantasy novel that's very different maybe it's for you..

The Wise Man's Fear on audio is very, very good.

Finished Wheel of the Infinite today and I must say I was quite impressed. Really loved this book. 4.5 stars but I'm stingy with my 5 stars so it gets a 4 star. The plot was so original and refreshing. It was really nice to read an original fantasy with all the redundancy out there today. I've not read a lot of Martha Wells but after reading this I'll probably be reading some more. Great job! Now I'm startingThe Darkness That Comes Before.
Finished A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (which, seriously, if you're pining for Westeros, read this book) and, since my Kindle is currently unavailable (long story), I'm going back to the Ballantine Adult Fantasy series for a bit with Hannes Bok's Beyond the Golden Stair.
Memories of ice, malazan book of the fallen. Steven Erikson, book 3, Only 7 more to go!! I like a challenge.
I've started The Golden Compass with my daughter, I've read wonderful reviews of it. I also finished The Darkness That Comes Before, so I'm planing to start The Guns of Avalon!!
Javier wrote: "I've started The Golden Compass with my daughter, I've read wonderful reviews of it. I also finished The Darkness That Comes Before, so I'm planing to start [book:The Gu..."Enjoy The Golden Compass/Northern Lights! One of my most loved books.
Still reading The Century's Best Horror Fiction Volume Two, but I did take time to read The Colorado Kid (I've voted for it as a group read for more than a year in aother group ,so I figured I'd better read it!)
Finished Beyond the Golden Stair and, since I'm still Kindle-free, went with another Ballantine Adult Fantasy title: The Broken Sword by Poul Anderson.
And finished The Broken Sword and decided to revisit A.E. van Vogt's The Book of Ptath for the first time in a couple of decades.(I needed a "V" for my A-Z challenge.)

I finally got around to reading The Broken Sword earlier this year. I was kinda worried it would be a little too dated for me to like, but I enjoyed it.
Greg wrote: "I finally got around to reading The Broken Sword earlier this year. I was kinda worried it would be a little too dated for me to like, but I enjoyed it. "Yeah, Anderson really had a handle on that northern thing.

Have you read any of Anderson's Norse stuff? any recommendations?
Greg wrote: "Have you read any of Anderson's Norse stuff? any recommendations? ..."Not as much as I probably should have; particularly, I haven't read any of the ones he was writing near the end of his career. Hrolf Kraki's Saga is worth checking out, though. And he wrote several historical novels which, again, I unfortunately haven't read yet, but they're on the list. The Golden Horn and its sequels, most notably.
Finished The Book of Ptath (it was very short) and started The Legend of Eli Monpress by Rachel Aaron.
I was reading Assassin's Apprentice but half way through I gave up.. I really wanted to like it but I guess it wasn't for me. Now I am reading The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin and so far it's quite interesting and I'm listening to An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir which I am also enjoying.
I've read The Guns of Avalon, it gets a bit better than the first one. I will continue the series. It gets read quite fast. Also I've re-read TTarzan of the Apes, and probably will keep it through the whole series. Now I just started The Warrior Prophet.
Currently finishing up the Riyria Revelations with Heir of Novron. Really liking the series, though I wished the kindle prices were cheaper. $10 for a kindle book is a little eh for me and I'm debating on reading the other series just cause it'd be another $10 each for kindle books. Maybe I'm a cheapo :(
