Just started out today with this book that I never have heard of apart from here at Beyond Reality. Definitely an interesting setup with the main character that makes one want to know more about the peculiar world one just entered. I don't know why but I keep thinking about Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. Does anybody else have experience? Perhaps it is something about the setting? Looks like an alluring read....

The setting and completely original magic world-building certainly is a simularity that both books possess. Wow. These books are so original to me. Not derivative at all and a lot of good writing means no more boredom!
