This month's alternate group read is a Classic Science Fiction novel, The Island of Dr. Moreau. Explore the ethical dilemmas of Science as imagined in the 19th Century. Are they any different today?

Mindy Jones (mindyrecycles) I'm reading this in the Serial Reader app if anybody else wants to check it out. Classics are served up in short daily issues...I love it.

Dora Anyone still reading this? I thought it will be similar to The Invention of Morel, with being on an island and doing experiments, but this is taking weird turns :/

Mindy Jones (mindyrecycles) Yes, I finished it a couple of weeks ago. It's certainly a strange and creepy story, but I liked it. The idea of how easily humans can degenerate reminded me of Lord of the Flies, and it's always interesting and scary to think about what scientists can do vs what they should do.
