Michal (henryk1984) | 2 comments Hello. I'm looking for a science fiction book I have read about 20 years ago. I really don’t remember much of details but from what I remember:
-it was Science fiction
-it was (at least) 3 part book
-not sure if it was strictly post-apocalyptic or was it that humanity just devolved
-there were few giant old airships (from times before the degeneration)
-society was built in a monarchy way (lords owned the airships)
-there were few sword fights
-I remember that in second part major role played son of villain from first part (5-7yo with memories of his father as his father was genetically modified to transfer his memories in his DNA) although he himself also made an appearance
-one of the characters was raised in arctic station by descendants of scientist who by genetic modification were hermaphrodites
-the protagonist from arctic station was flying small space ship called 'Tear' because of its shape
-in part 3 there was a genetically modified elephant that looked like a giant hand

I don't even remember if those books were good but now I want to refresh my memories so I can’t rate them properly.

Thanks for all the help.

Jason Serpico | 1 comments Wow, thanks! I was just trying to figure out the same thing, triggered by reading a synopsis of Mortal Engines.

Wikipedia mentions that this was one of the first modern Western sci-fi series printed in the former Eastern Bloc. The nationality of most reviewers of this book on GR seems to bear this out, and it's consistent with my case as well. I don't know about it being the first, but it certainly seems to have been rather popular amongst teens in that part of the world for an otherwise obscure work.
