Don't worry Leni .By the rime I read it I wont really remember it in detail.and I can read knowing it is ok.I generally am a fan of spoilers.

Ha--a fan of spoilers--funny Elena. Please come back and share your thoughts when you read it so we can discuss some more! And Susan, I agree too with your point about the treatment of feminism. When I'm done, I'll be interested to maybe learn more about where Fanny Burney was coming from.
I'm not done quite yet--hopefully in the next week--so am waiting to read Leni's last spoiler. :-)
Leni wrote: "I am done! Whew. I have to say it turned into a bit of a soap opera at the end. I went through some outrage at what women were supposed to endure in the name of duty, delicacy, and religion (seriou..."A bit of a struggle to cross the finish line, but I am finally done too! I think we all agree that a third of it could be cut, but all in all, not bad. This is one I certainly won't forget.
The social customs were infuriating, and I too am certainly glad not to be living in that situation. (view spoiler)
All of the supposed "good" characters were kinda boring and the "bad" characters were the most fun! I would have liked more of Elinor--she was my favorite.
No more 1000 page novels for me for a while! Oh, wait--Three Musketeers is coming up ...
I'm on holiday and only have Goodreads access through the app, so I can't read your spoiler. But thank you for reading it with me! I'm sure it wouldn't have been as fun on my own. (And, sorry, can't help it. You mean pages, not words, I'm sure.)

Thanks for suggesting this, Leni. I'm glad I read it, and it was much easier to get through knowing you would be there to share notes with. Enjoy your holiday!

And Susan, it felt good to read The Story of an African Farm after this! Okay, it was written 70 years later, but it's still the 19th century and it has a great feminist character.
