Hi Dalis,I am definitely interested in swapping beta-read services with you.
For my side, I have been writing as a hobby for several years with no real intent to attempt to publish. A couple of years ago, my son read a few of my novels and has been pestering me non-stop ever since to get them published. So... I thought I would check on the possibility.
Job One, is to get a few beta reads to confirm or deny my son's opinion.
I have two or four Western novels (depending on how they are kept together or split apart for publishing), six fully sci-fi novels in the 'Space Marine' category, three fantasy novels of alternate world/dragon/magic, three novels of the thriller/mystery or action/adventure category, and one of straight-up thriller/mystery.
My fantasy is a series of three, so far. The series is called "Wyvern of Bristoncon", and the first of the series is titled "Beginnings".
It opens with the growth of a wyvern, named Kaltrix, from egg through adulthood and mating flight, to claiming an aerie territory. The reader gets to know the wyvern species and the world they live upon. After Kaltrix mates with Sharlott and they have their territory, the soon discover a new alien invader entering close to their aerie... one which walks about on two legs!
To observe this new potential threat, the two fly too close and disaster occurs... Sharlott is killed and Kaltrix is crippled and captured.
The story switches then from the wyvern view to the human view, and we meet the human 'hero', Orren, a fourteen-cycle boy who is in forced apprenticeship to a master blacksmith. They have traveled far from their homeland on an expedition to seek possible new colony sites for several reasons.
As Orren grows, and learns, he and Kaltrix are inevitably thrust together... and one day Orren accidentally touches Kaltrix. What happens next is beyond either of their wildest dreams.
Each face personal danger from a variety of sources, and each face political intrigue, and betrayal. Together, they learn they have the opportunity to stop a war between wyvern and human, and save countless lives on both sides.
Can they figure out how?
If you have any interest, I can be reached by email at danherit@gmail.com
Thanks, James
Hey Dalis,Your book sounds quite interesting :) I have a 68K YA scifi/dystopian (and a WIP YA fantasy) myself and would be willing to swap chapters.
'When set Ablaze' is set in and around the city of Soteria. Dawn is searching for her lost father and Michael tries to find his abducted best friend. Both find more than they anticipated, including a serum that gives people strange and dangerous abilities.
'The Girl in Man's Armor' follows Dalila Bau as she disguised herself as her brother, Don Bau, to join the army in his place. In doing so, she faced execution for treason, if the enemy didn't kill her first.
Let me know if you are interested as well.

I will give you detailed analysis about each chapter and the overall story including characters, plot, pacing, world building, just about anything.
Rough Nights is a 110,000 word novel that takes place in modern time United States. It is a story of brotherhood and bravery following twin brothers Charlie and William who discover what it means to be a pack after learning the truth about their father. Rough Nights best fits into the category of action and fantasy. It is book one of The Rough trilogy.
William and Charlie Hastings have been eagerly awaiting the day they'd finally turn into their wolves for the first time to be able to run with the rest of the pack. The brothers have been raised from birth by their father’s best friend Joey. For nearly the past fifteen years they have had to be satisfied with video chatting with their father a few times a year. When Joey is forced to tell them about a man named Cato who has their father held against his will to use him as his own personal hit man, turning becomes the least of their worries. Cato, a ruthless man with unlimited resources, will stop at nothing to understand what they are, or how their existence is even possible. After being separated, the pack has no choice but to do as Cato says or risk losing each other for good.
