I have chosen:
Sputnik Sweetheart
A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
The Girl Who Played with Fire

That's a good selection Paul. Is Sputnik Sweetheart the group read?
I'll be reading Wind Pinball by Murakami. I'm undecided on the others yet

We will choose the group one for the November book. Just happened that Sputnik Sweetheart was a translated one too

Two out of three The Girl Who... books, eh, Paul? Assume you will read the third in the New Year?
I haven't planned out my challenge reads but one of them will be My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante. Been curious about this set of novels for a while.
Might also do Bonjour tristesse if I can find my copy...

Wind/Pinball is fun, though it feels a little unfinished in some respects. Be sure to read the introduction, Charlotte, it gives a lot of insight into Murakami's early writing experiences and is a good read in its own right.

Those are the second and third books in the trilogy, so I am guessing he has already read it? (For the record, I thought it was bad, boring even...)
Ah, sorry, I see that now. Suffering from insomnia brain/overwork brain of late!
I liked the first well enough, although it was pretty grotesque. But was not keen on the other two either.

Will be interested to hear your views on this, I found it massively disappointing but it seems to be really popular. Must have missed something obvious :)
Thanks for that advice Lisa. I don't often read the introductions, but I'll make sure I do with that one.

House of the spirits-Isabelle allande
Shadow of the wind- Carlos ruiz zafon
The door-magda szabo
Silence- shusaku endo
Well done Paul but you were originally down to read 5 books, what gives?
I also finished my challenge when I finished We. My selection was:
We of course!
Silence of the Grave
The Outsider
The Nose
