Regina Clarke | 9 comments Hello--

I have a book on Kindle and have just changed its cover and title, but kept the same ASIN. So it is effectively a second edition. How do I add it to Goodreads without it's being seen as a duplicate because the ASIN now refers to two different covers and titles?

Many thanks since I cannot figure out what to do with the Alternate Edition page.

Codex | 3400 comments Which book . . . ?
If you could provide the GR book link (or the ASIN) for the original Kindle edition, a librarian can help create the alternate cover edition.

Regina Clarke | 9 comments That's great! Thank you!

The page link is https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

and the ASIN is
B00OYZ3B4O

I looked for a query page to a librarian and wrote to one but she said to ask the question here.

Regina Clarke | 9 comments Hi--

Another query? I changed the description to the Primary edition thinking it would reflect on the Alternate, but it did not. Is that change possible with the Alternate, or is it set now as is?

Many thanks,

Regina

It's better to leave the current description which includes the ASIN details as is. It helps users match their edition (ASIN + new cover)

:-)

Regina Clarke | 9 comments Thanks, Michael. No one has signed up for it to review but I see your point for sure, and will reverse the change.

Again, great to get your help!

Dobby (dobby0390) | 7953 comments Regina, if you want to change the description on the alternate-cover edition so that it matches the description on Amazon, you may certainly do so. As Michael pointed out, it's best to leave the original edition's description in place to avoid confusing readers who shelved that edition.

If you do update the description on the alternate edition, please be sure to leave the Librarian Note in place as it contains a hyperlink pointing back to the original edition.

As the author, you can set the default edition—that is, the one that comes up in searches by title and shows on your author profile. Here's how to do that.
