The problem is that accepting 'Brexit' and 'British' in the list is just as 'political' a decision as refusing to accept 'Islam' or 'Israel'Yet is appears that the Dictionary had no problem with the first two but did with the second two
Well what did they expect? Asking the public for their least favourite word was always going to head in only one direction.
It's a lowest common denominator thing. People can't see this kind of thing without abusing it. Like Wordy McWordface, only that was funny.
The silliest part of this is that the people who are suggesting swear words are probably being very honest. My least favourite word would be a swear word. Moist, on the other hand, is a lovely word. Full of comic possibilities.

spot on. Indeed I'd suggest that part of what makes a swear word a swear word is that it's offensive and people won't like it.
But how can somebody have 'moist' as their least favorite word? All i can assume is they have had a very sheltered life
Moist is good, damp sounds wimpy and all swear words are my least favourite but as I have never said or written any of them I wouldn't be posting them on any site. There is always the nasty element that spoils it for everyone else
