Need help coming up with ideas for a grieving heroine

Hey, Ladies, I could really use some help! I've created a challenge for myself over in The Lost Challenges group, but I'm worried about a couple of my book choices and want to have some backups.

The challenge I created was to find books that would correlate to toys from my childhood, specifically Jem and the Holograms and She-Ra, Princess of Power. I've had to change the list a couple of times, due to book availability and other issues, so I don't mind switching things around, however, my entry for Kimber is giving me fits! My requirement is that the book must have a heroine that is the sister of a previous heroine from the challenge or that she must be a grieving heroine. Currently, I've got it set up with Beauty Queen by Julia London, because I'm using her book Material Girl for my entry for Pizzazz (Spoiled Rich Girl Story). My worry comes from the fact that I haven't enjoyed a lot of books lately and I'm afraid that if I don't enjoy Material Girl, I won't want to read Beauty Queen. Since I am the "author" of the challenge, I can change it as necessary, so I would also accept book recommendations about a heroine that plays piano or is in a band and plays keyboards, as the only other person doing the challenge has already read a book for her Kimber entry.

A word about some of what I read: my tastes really vary! I am willing to try any romance genre out there, though some are more hit or miss for me. UF really seems to dominate that trend. I had a perfect back up book for Kimber too...except I read it last December and the challenge started in January! The book I was thinking of was Christmas on Mimosa Lane, but I'm not adverse to finding something like it.

There's always The Hathaways - which first comes to mind. Or Huxtable Quintet ; the second is about all sisters and one brother (that comes almost last in the series). I also love some of the books in Sinclair Family Saga .

Yes, she doesn't seem to have published since 2012. Pity I really enjoyed her Brethren Guardian series.

I wonder if she wrote under another name and passed away? Her blog, facebook, and twitter all just suddenly stopped posting. I tried contacting Harlequin, but didn't get a response. That was almost 6 months ago.

Thanks for the heads up, Lauren! I'll check them out! I'm taking the month "off" and not participating in as many challenges as I normally do, so that I can read the books I have set up for the Sub-genre challenge and possibly finish the Toy challenge I set up for myself. I'll post here and let everyone know what I wind up doing!
