I like Young Adult Fiction and Romance. But I do like a good thriller or war novel!

I don't know if there is a prize for the curmudgeon contest, but I don't like being 67 and lost and done and I hate the ridicule of commercials. The Rolling Stones are still hard rock and they don't do limited "sets" for some silly medical insurance. I hate the horrible music for those stupid "senior" commercials. We don't ever play "Mary Had A Little Lamb" on guitar like children...

message 82: by Douglas (new)

Douglas Gilbert | 226 comments When I was 17 and graduating High School I had lost what few friends I had because I knew they were worthless and dead to me.
I thought that when I went to College a miracle would happen automatically because of the intellectual climate and that I would draw new friends automatically.
That did not happen, and even though I eventually graduated and got my degree it meant nothing, and I stayed nothing forever.
So now I know I always had crackpot dreams that were invalid and worthless, and I'm too old to learn any truth that would have any efficacy for me, too old for anyone to love.
Everything was a lie: "you can do anything you want if you try hard enough." Not true.
I tried and now I am only worthy for the trash. But I fool myself into thinking I might yet accomplish something, but my nightmares tell me no, and now I can hardly sleep anymore, because the anxiety of my total doom overwhelms me, and when I wake up from fitful sleep I am disappointed to still be me with nowhere to go.

My fav color is Blue and My fav animal is a Dog

and I have too many fav books, but my all time fav, are both the Percy Jackson series and the Harry Potter Series.

sorry for the really late response

message 84: by Douglas (new)

Douglas Gilbert | 226 comments So when I was over 18 I was much too old to be a virgin. But she didn't even really know me and I don't think she would ever even love me, and I would have if I could have, and the more she knew of me the more she was repelled. Making love is not love I know but it feels so good and I want to feel alive with beautiful, sensual... Oh never-mind -- nothing ever happens. Wow the girls I could never have had...

message 85: by Douglas (new)

Douglas Gilbert | 226 comments Awesome wrote: "Ur 69?!Douglas?!"

67. but I don't think it makes that much difference except that 69 is the name of a famous position.

message 86: by Douglas (new)

Douglas Gilbert | 226 comments I used to chatter a lot and never looked up. But one day I looked into a face and read her body language. It said, "go away, you're boring and disgusting." Sometimes I still talk but I always see them looking for an escape route: how can I gracefully and politely get away from this person. So I don't want to talk anymore and I don't think I care anymore what I think if no one who would hold my hand would listen to me as if I mattered. I think in a few more years I could be dead even if I don't get hit by a truck crossing the street, but that would be good.

message 87: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks: sometimes I can be hot in a rant and then I'm cool, real cool for the barbecue and I've got a glaze for that meat... tender ribbing

message 89: by connie (new)

connie I am 59 and I usually spend most of my time watching people. They do the most interesting things when they do not know anyone is watching. Like the taking pictures with their phones . Some of their faces that they make. I mean seriously. Do you actually look at what you are doing and how others see you? I can just imagine a person from another country walking by and seeing that and wondering if that person is having a fit of some kind or something. And it is not like it is in any fancy place or anything but like in a fast food place or a mall or someplace ordinary. There my rant for today is over. Back to the happy thoughts.

I'm 18(turning 19 this fall) and I stopped caring about reality. I never cared about it anyway. As a child growing up, I often daydream, by looking at the field with mountains in Dianne while swinging on the swings.

As I grew older, I just write my own songs and stories. Either from dreams or a movie that inspired me. I go outside at night and walk around.

Nobody understands me. They'll never understand what I'm doing with my writing or my future.

message 91: by Douglas (new)

Douglas Gilbert | 226 comments You are so poetic when you walk around and there must be a theme to you if the mountains would call and you would swing high and lift off. The daydream is pretty and we wait for the blossom, sometimes at the end of Summer there is a notion.

Nobody understands me either. And if I could ever walk with you there would be peace because the impossible would be running wild and wonderful. And I often have silly notions just because I seek love in all its glory into the many and me.
