What did you like about this story? In comparison to others in the series before it? What didn't work for you? Still planning to continue?

Phrynne | 607 comments I liked this one the best so far. I managed to forget that Maggie is supposed to be a profiler and pretended she was an investigating cop. I am hoping that we are now on the up and up so I will continue.

I was on my way to giving this one four stars until the end. She wrapped up both stories in two pages, leaving quite a few loose ends. We deserved to know what happened in that helicopter before Maggie showed up on the boat. We deserved to know more about Joe Black's motivation. "My father deserved better" just didn't cut it for me.

You're right, Phrynne. I'm going to think of Maggie like a detective versus a profiler and the stories will make more sense. And, I'll make her 21-years old to make the romances more tolerable.

Phrynne | 607 comments Lol!

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I liked there were was a lot going on in this story with Maggie's investigation, Ben's investigation, Scott loaning his funeral home to Joe Black, Liz working with a group of men and not quite fitting in, and a hurricane bearing down on them. It made for a quick read.

I thought Liz was the most interesting character. It would be OK with me if she showed up again in this series. She seems to have her head on straight.

I didn't like that the author would build up the scene and it would end abruptly at the end of the chapter with a little cliffhanger. The next time we saw the same characters (a couple chapters later), it picked up several hours later. I thought that was just a dumb way of handling any suspense in this story.

I loved that there was so much going on, too. Liz was a well developed character but Scott stated she was a lesbian and we never learned if that was true or not. This was one of those examples, Robin, where there was a skip to another time after he made the statement.

I don't mind the story transitions but, like you, don't like that we didn't return to the same timeframe. Nor did she always provide an explanation for the previous cliffhanger. I guess that's why I was so disappointed in how she ended the story...she just stopped writing.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I think I said something like this on the general page about this book. It was as if two chapters had been cut out before the book was bound. I like more closure with stories like this. No excuse for these omissions.

I did feel like that.

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments The scene where Scott stated that Liz was a lesbian really threw me. He made the statement to Maggie...end of chapter. The next time we see Maggie or Liz, nothing is said about Scott's statement. That drove me nuts. Why put it in there if there is no discussion about it?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I was wondering whether Scott was threatened by a strong woman and made that leap, or if we've been given information that should be pertinent but wasn't in this book?

Phrynne | 607 comments I just assumed it was Scott being offensive and forgot all about it!

Robin wrote: "The scene where Scott stated that Liz was a lesbian really threw me. He made the statement to Maggie...end of chapter. The next time we see Maggie or Liz, nothing is said about Scott's statement. T..."

Exactly! This is an example of what I was talking about earlier. Bomb dropping and then no follow up.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments The ending was too abrupt but other than that I liked it more than some of the others.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I will continue reading this series with our group. I have the next book on order from the library.

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I'm still planning to continue the series. We only have a few books left.
