Takes place partly in ancient Rome and partly in modern day. about a group of people that fight evil through the use if temples that consume their bodies and leave chrystal skull. Aliens in the bermuda triangle take people from different time periods to experiment, including viking, samurai and Amelia Earnhardt. Also has a scene where a Roman gladiator children are killed in eruption of pompeii.

I know it is vague, but I hope with ask the pieces someone will be able to answer.

I read some of those as well I think the authors surname was Ahern, but cannot remember the authors first name.

I know one of the books involved the USS Scorpion.
