I just finished this book over the weekend, and it was amazing! The writing and the story, and all the feels! Anyone else read it? I'm dying to talk about it more.

I also saw the trailer for the film that arrives in September and I think they have been quite faithful to the book, they are almost the same feelings. I made my review about the story, but it's in Spanish :)
That's so awesome, Natalia! Yeah, I have high hopes for the movie. They're never as good as the book, but I think it'll be a great movie.

Our book group read this book about a year. Our group of 8 consists of 4 males and 4 women. the women, liked me, loved it. The men generally thought it was not quite believable that a boat wth a dead man and baby washed up on the shore. I thought it was a beautiful and heart-wrenching.
People who didn't like the book tend to put it down on basis that Isabelle was 'crazy.' I thought this was part of the beauty of the book--you can feel her transition from a stable young woman to an extremely troubled and pained person. I found that dialogue between the logical Tom and more capricious Isabelle perfectly mimicked that of my own head as I read--half of me thought Isabelle was being completely unreasonable while the other half felt an endless empathy for her grieving. The movie, on the other hand, was not so good. I watched it with a handful of people who had not read the book--they were sleeping by the end of it lol. Hopefully we'll see a more condensed, concise film version in the future.
