Char | 17472 comments I'm still waiting on my audio to come in, but it should be here pretty much any minute. I'm excited to re-read this classic in a new way.

I've got the audio reserved from the library and I've been next on the list for about two weeks now. (You're only allowed to check them out for 2 weeks, if someone is waiting for that title, so it should be coming in any moment.)

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 1471 comments I'm #9 on the audio waitlist so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that folks return it early and it gets to me in time!

Cody | CodysBookshelf (codylovesbooks) | 16 comments I am going to be out of town this weekend and probably won't get time to read much, so I started on IT today. I'm now on page 251 because oh my, it moves QUICKLY.

I've never considered this one to be one of my favorite King novels, but I'm loving it this time around.

Cody | CodysBookshelf (codylovesbooks) | 16 comments So.... has anyone started yet?

IT is my favorite King novel so far, too. But I haven't read them all yet.

Cody | CodysBookshelf (codylovesbooks) | 16 comments I'm on page 308. This book is so well-written.

There she sucked up all light that she could find, and spun it forth again in dark nets of strangling gloom, until no light more could come to her abode; and she was famished."

That's from the Silmarillion but doesn't it sound just like the deadlights?

I'm not sure if it's worth the money for the audio, since I already own the book. However, the audio did come in for me this morning at the library. Soooooo WHOOHOOO! If I like it, I might buy it to listen again at some point in the future.
I'll finish listening to William Shatner narrate Leonard: My Fifty-Year Friendship with a Remarkable Man and start It by tomorrow.

I love that about ALL of King's work. All of the stories are connected in one way or another. Most are connected through the Dark Tower series, but some are not. Here's a link if you're interested:

Heather (cheshireeyes) | 33 comments I am definitely enjoying this. This is actually my first time reading It. I saw the movie with Tim Curry countless times. But it is always interesting seeing how different the book is. I wish I had read this first originally but oh well better late than never :-P

I thought Pet Sematary was one of the darkest books I've ever read. I also thought it was WAY better than the movie.

I loved that part too!

I'm at Part 15, Chapter 9 or 40% and I just noted a mention of (view spoiler)

It is wordy, but for some reason I don't mind it in this book. Maybe it's because I enjoy the characters so much?

message 81: by Heather (new)

Heather (cheshireeyes) | 33 comments Yeah Stephen King has always been wordy. But it's never bothered me since it really helps with the character development.

Cody | CodysBookshelf (codylovesbooks) | 16 comments Yeah, typically I love King's wordiness (I number The Tommyknockers among my very favorites, after all) but it bothers me in IT, for some reason. I dunno.

Heehee, we just had a local clown scare. It was actually shot as an advertisement for a local haunted house but someone got ahold of it, and it went viral, or what counts for viral around here:

Awww. The King often does that to me too. The end of The Stand made me sad for days.

LOL. My teenage daughter is completely freaked out about the creepy clowns. This book or the movie, since she doesn't read (UGH), would totally scare the crap out of her.

Reading is My Escape, I enjoyed reading your comments. There is a lot of humor here, and it's easy to overlook with all the scares.

Thanks Char. I'm way behind everyone else, but I am really enjoying the audio. It's such a different experience from reading the physical book. I am catching things I never noticed before.

Well, that part I remembered but I never was crazy about it. I don't think it was necessary, personally.
