I was wondering if anybody would be able to help me with the title of a book that I've been looking for for years. It was about a group of young kids, around the age of 4 or 5, I'm pretty sure the mother of one had just moved to the area with her young daughter, and had taken her to the playground where she had met these other kids. The kids were able to communicate with each other telepathically. It was a thriller/horror book, the cover was red, with a black silhouette of children holding hands on the cover. I read it in the late 80s, early 90s and it always stayed in my mind but I could never remember the title or the author. I did a bit of googling and I'm pretty sure it's not The Chrysalids. Is anyone able to help please?? It's doing my head in haha :)

Even though it wasn't Midwich, did some of the children in the community look alike? I remember reading something similar in the 80s(spoiler)(view spoiler); I don't remember the title, but I might be able to find it.
