15.8. Create Your Own Art.
Read a nonfiction book that will teach you a new skill or help you improve one you’ve already acquired. If the new/improved skill and how it relates to you and your life is not obvious, please explain in your post.

"Nonfiction" for purposes of this task means books about the actual world as it is, not about zombies, vampires, alien invasions, etc. The skill should be a traditional professional or self-improvement skill, or art, craft, or hobby.

Sorry, no, this task is about "real" nonfiction. I've amended the task description in hope of making that clear.

it seems that it could at the least give you ideas to develop your photography skills.

message 19: by Bea (new)

Bea Oh, my goodness. Besides being a reader and wife, I have NO skills (other than those I used in my job) nor do I desire to pick up any hobbies at this point; so I found this task really hard to come up with ideas.

However, I think I might have found one...letter writing. I am a very poor letter writer, preferring a quick phone call or email...and both of those are sparse also. I sometimes wish I had more friends, but I have not really cultivated the ones I have had.

I frequently think about writing...but don't. Perhaps this book - Words for Letters: Writing Personal Letters for Deeper Friendships - will help me reach that goal of keeping better in touch with loved ones and friends.

both of these appear to involve helping you learn a new skill or improve an existing one - depending on how healthy your brain is and how well you sleep!
