Mehmet | 1241 comments Finished the book now, just going to reflect a little on how i feel about it. I would give it three stars, as enjoyed it, but never felt the total excitement i get from a great book. It was full of really tense moments. I felt Joe Hill really is good at portraying selfish characters. There was also clever parts showing mob mentality. I predicted ending, but still got swept up in the excitement. Was not sure if a woman could stand so much pressure while pregnant, but then 1 its a story and 2 my family tell me that in Cyprus woman while pregnant still use to work under the heat in the fields. So maybe but still thought pushing the limit of belief.

Jennifer | 450 comments I've seen a few reviews complaining about Harper, saying that it's not possible for a pregnant woman to do what she did. I've not really heard of anyone doing what the Fireman can do either so I don't see what there is to complain about!

I agree on the tense moments, but the predictable storyline made it a bit too hard to get truly into.

Mehmet | 1241 comments So right there Jennifer ^_^ it was only a story at the end of the day. Not read any reviews yet as wanted to write mine before reading others.

Mehmet | 1241 comments I had trouble totally feeling the story, i enjoyed the set up and the background, but something was missing for me.

Vavita Exactly. If you see my message from sept 13 (hidden spoiler), that was my main issue. It is just not possible!

Kaisersoze | 294 comments I'm badly lagging as well - just haven't had time to read. But like others, it is starting to drag a little for me. 203 pages in at this point.

Jennifer | 450 comments Keep going, it does start to get more interesting again. Are you enjoying it so far?

message 58: by Vavita (new)

Vavita I am definitely reading this book again some time soon

message 59: by Kaisersoze (new)

Kaisersoze | 294 comments Thanks for the encouragement, Jennifer. I'm not enjoying it anywhere near as much as NOS4R2 or Heart Shaped Box, but there's enough to keep me coming back to it. And when I do, I usually get through 50-60 pages ... Then the pattern repeats as I don't have the time/feel motivated to pick it up for another week or so
