Mari Carroll We had really good discussion about the Sue Klebold book (A Mother's Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy), the mom of the Columbine shooter Dylan Klebold. The most controversial discussion we had was reading our kid's journals and texts - okay or not okay. Some moms have full access to every social media account their kids (most 12-16) have and would have no problems reading their kid's journals. Many have access to read all of their texts. My daughter is 19, but even when she was younger, I never had complete access to any of her social media accounts (though I did follow her on all) and would only consider reading her private journal or texts if I thought there was a problem - and that would be after I talked to her about my concerns first. Just curious - thoughts? No idea of what the age range is here, and really the only tie to the book is that there are excerpts from both Dylan and Eric's journals within the book. And if this is too controversial, I will delete. P.S. What is a "text talker"? It's in the rules...I don't wanna be one but I don't know what it means!

I think this is perfectly reasonable to discuss. If there is any fighting about the topic then I will reconsider but as of now its fine.

I am actually really interested in this book. I'll have to see if my library has it.

Text Talking: "u, r, ya,..." things like that. Obviously, lol .. haha.. lmao things like that are fine but "u" "r" stuff like that gets irritating lol.

Mari Carroll Ahhhh. Gotcha. I don't think I will ever fall into that category! I can't even stand using those abbreviations on my text. Except to text my daughter "k" because it drives her crazy...so it's fun on occasion!
