In general, WorldCat is more likely to have page count consistent with the way Goodreads counts pages than most publisher's sites.

There are acknowledgments on page 493 and from 494 on it's a list of other books by the same publisher, does that have to be included since it starts on the same, well, sheet of paper as it were? And there are a lot of pictures in the beginning to do with the author's life that are not included in the 492 page count but appear to be proper content nonetheless, like the other included extra content such as notes etc.

Then I think it should be 493. A list of other books from the publisher would not be counted, and the content following it could go either way. But with the combination of being unnumbered and being after material we don't count, 493 makes the most sense.
