SOLVED. historical romance novel from 80's or 90's with abducted heroine [s]

I am searching for a book I read back in the 90's. I really want to read it again but cannot remember the title or author. I've tried google but haven't found it. It is a historical romance that was published in the 80's or early 90's. The hero may or may not be a pirate but he abducts the heroine and takes her to his island home. His nickname for her is "English" so I'm guessing she is English and maybe he isn't. I think she may be wearing a blue dress on the cover but I could be confused on a different cover. Please help. Not being able to find it is driving me crazy. It was such a good book.
