Your blog is so pink and pretty! Welcome to the group!
I see Annie has already handed over cookies and your own thread. We also have breakfast tacos and carrots ;)

Love HEA too, though occasionally I do love a good tragedy - hard to come by though.

You clearly haven't read my books than, lol! My author name should be India 'Tragedy' Adams. That's why I didn't offer one to sweet Miss Abby.

Hahaha! I kill off one half of my couple at the end of my first romantic suspense series!!

I'm a child at heart, in a 23 year old's body that looks 15.
I love books, movies, 80s and 90s music (even though I would have been too young to remember anything at the time). I am very easy going, which makes it difficult when a decision falls on my shoulders. I am 50% Puerto Rican and 40% Italian and 10% Irish/English.
I am a book blogger for a little over a year now. I began blogging to get out of my shy-shell and for the most part have succeeded. I am big on HEA, but love a good twist. And I am still waiting for Cale to come wheeling into my life. *WINKS*
Eeeek! Miss Haddie is here!!!
*tackle hugs*
Because she is too modest and humble to do this herself, I'm just gonna redirect all you lovely folks to her amazing blog of pure awesomeness:
http://haddieshaven.blogspot.ca
This girl has done sooo much for indies! So give her some love!!
Less-tackle-y-hugs,
Ann
P.S. - Cale thanks you by removing his shirt. (I dunno why he keeps doing that haha!)

xD Oh my! (And I am virtually-tackled by a crazy young man, who pretends he is a fox, all the time. I am used to it ♥) In truth, indies work very hard to get their names out there and I love being able to help them do that. I actually feel like I have found my calling.
P.S. *Blushes* Thanks Cale! ♥

Hiya, Haddie!!

Hahaha! You're the first person that actually liked that I kill off one if the two main characters at the end of the last book of the series!!

Let's not go overboard....they can't all die!

Mistress Ann gave you a shirtless Cale, but not a goodie basket...
*hands over some goodies...syrup and stuff* *points to Cale*

As for killing off half the characters, I may be in for some of that action! I feel like my writing is getting much darker in that regard - still don't think I'm brave enough though LMAO!
As long as Cale is never killed off, I feel all will be right in my world. Especially if he keeps taking off his shirt. *winks*

I love supportive bloggers like Haddie. Yes, we indies do struggle like the proverbial swan to get readers to recognise our books exist. I truly appreciate all the help you guys give us.
And for the HEA lovers; yeah mine have those, but not without a bit of trial and tribulation first ;-p
Hugs all round xx

Must follow Mistress' rules or I will end up in the dungeon. Yet... maybe I would like? I ponder... I ponder...

Thanks for being such a supporter of indie authors! You guys make such a difference it amazes me every time :)

Just (finally) joined Good Reads and I'm loving this group. In high school, I used to always joke that my life goal was to travel the world and write romance novels, so now I'm trying to make that a reality.
I'm currently working on my first novel in hopefully an ongoing series set in Victorian England, but not all from a "obscenely wealthy nobility" angle. Trying to tackle some other issues of the time, while still having a good HEA (don't know that anyone wants their main couple to be starving in a hovel and shoveling horse manure). Right now I'm just repeating Anne Lamott's advice about sitting down and finishing the "sh***y first draft" more than anything, and learning to not expect perfection my first go round. SO DIFFICULT.
For those of you who have written a series, how intentional were you when it came to setting up interesting side characters that people would care about enough to want to read about in another book? I've started a list with my possible next stories as they pop into my brain (normally as I'm trying to fall asleep, of course), but would love any insight.
Looking forward to what I can learn from all of you in the future. Thanks for such a positive, encouraging group!

Great question. Feel free to ask that under the Writing Romance folder. Just create a new thread and I'm sure tons will pop in to answer (*wink* *wink* Me)

Hi Abigail! Welcome!
For me, side characters are not purposely created—well—except for one. My daughter had such a hard time with another character being on his own, after his better half passes, that I created a special character to be a dear friend, realizing the loneliness was too upsetting for readers. Other than that, mine grow over time—and many drafts, lol. In my one book, Steal Me, I have a character, Diesel, who I am now getting email demands for him to have his own story. In my opinion, don't force it. Your characters will talk to you once they take some shape and life of their own :)

Thank you for the warm welcome! I took your advice and started a new thread in Writing Romance.
Now I'm just waiting on my brownie.

Thank you for this insight! I actually hadn't started my book with the thought of it going on into a series, but I have a side character who keeps insisting on being far stronger and more present that I had planned. I just wasn't sure if that was how it "typically" happened for people, especially as a series goes on. I can only hope to keep writing so many characters with as strong a presence and mind of their own in the future.
I started a thread in Writing Romance to discuss this more. Would love to see how your experience lines up with those of others.

Did someone eat your brownies?
