My fist pick is Me Before You by Jo Jo Moyes, yes, yes I know, another one that has been made into a movie. But you guys know how I love books that are made into movies! And I think this one looks good.

Second pick is The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion, I've been going to read this for a while now. And I have heard it is a good book club read.

Third pick, something by Paula Brackston maybe The Witch's Daughter or The Silver Witch. I think that Debbie and Tarheelgirl have already read these though.....?

Good choices Ang, I have read The Silver Witch but never mind re-reading one of hers. The Witch's Daughter I have not read and its the prequel to her last release The Return of the Witch so that might be fun! Thanks

The Witch's Daughter sounds good to me!

Deb, could you get the author Paula to take part in our discussions?

Yeah, you're right, Ang! I got them backwards. I have been waiting to read The Silver Witch. I've already read The Witch's Daughter. So I guess my vote would be for The Silver Witch instead.

1) Outlander by Dianna Gabaldon

2) Death of a Gossip by M.C. Beaton

3) Buried Deep by Kristine Kathryn Rusch

I'm almost positive that Paula would join in and I will of course contact her if her book is chosen

Great choices Kamas!
Its been so long since I've read Outlander that it will seem like the first time. It's amazing how closely the Starz series follows the books. Have you watched it?
The only problem with picking Oullander is that it's almost 900 pages so to be fair to all we'd make it last two months but if everyone is fine with that so am I! And since the tv series is such a runaway hit its a timely choice.
I haven't read a Beaton for a while and that might be fun and the third one I'm not familiar with.

I didn't realize it was that long. Probably not that one then.
Outlander is now $1.99 for both Nook and Kindle. I thought about getting it, but my concern is the length, obviously, but also that it is such a long series. Deb, can it be read as a standalone? Reading the whole series would be a HUGE commitment for me.

It can be read as a stand alone since its the first in the series, but the problem is that after you finish it you'll probably want to move forward.
It is a love story, not a romance, it's period accurate and contains explicit violence. Its also everything you want in a period piece, epic, and vividly descriptive.

Okay gang we've had some suggestions now lets thin it out
I think we've decided to nix Outlander
That leaves the following
Last call for more suggestions then next week we'll vote!

If it's not too late, I just thought of another book that might be a possibility. Is The Light Between Oceans something anyone would be interested in? I haven't read it yet and the movie release seems to be making it popular right now.
