Sea of Storms south of Malaz Isle
Season of Osserc
1154th Year of Burn’s Sleep
96th Year of the Malazan Empire

Last Year of Emperor Kellanved’s Reign

So a couple of things in the Prologue worth highlighting. Above shows the time frame. Which is the last year of Kellanved's reign. So the prologue in this book matches the same time as the prologue in GotM when we are introduced to a young Ganoes Paran.

We are also introduced to the Raiders, ice warriors which form upon waves.
Edgewalker, I can't wait to see the discussions evolve on who he is.

inhabitants of the most distant regions of Shadow. And mad though he may be, Jhedel was right in one thing: it had been long since the Throne last held an occupant.

The Shadow Throne will no doubt play a large part in the Malazan Empire just like the Book of the Fallen.

David (cotillion37) | 3 comments I'm curious about who the Que'tezani are. Were they only loyal to Jhedel when he was on the throne, or do they still reside in Shadow? Were they the ones who imprisoned Jhedel? Or were they the ones he killed to take the throne?

Poor Edgewalker. Moaning his enslavement. Yet here you were long before the ones I slew to take the Throne. And here you remain after those who bound me in turn are long gone and forgotten.

Eugenio | 108 comments Hello everyone!

I am hitting a lot of first with this post:
-first post on GoodReads
-first group read (outside of reading books back with class back in elementary)
-first time reading NoK

I finished the Book of the Fallen books last year in a fevered rush, so I am looking forward to the Malazan Empire books

>Edgewalker crossed over a bit in BotF, so it would be great to see some more of his story.

>The Shadow Throne unoccupied... Let us wait to see for how long :P

>I am always a little thrown around with the dating in the BotF books, so I would not have realized this prologue was set during the same prologue in GotM. Thanks for that tidbit Lee!

It was only on the reread did the comparison leap out. I really don't remember much about this books as I did wedge it in between two read BotF reads, so I am looking forward to delving once again in to it.
