SOLVED. Fantasy and gay romance book: A book about an academy the mc's first year and he uncovers an evil plot

Hi! Unfortunately i can't remember any of the names inside the book, only the plotline for it.

This is about a young man who is attending an academy school (possibly a magic one or a soldier/battle one). He is roomed with a noble, who is related to the royal family or is part of the royal family. I am pretty sure the mcs cousin also goes to this school. It goes through his every day life and him crushing on the royal member. He is one day late walking to class and over hears a plot that puts said royal in danger some how. This was the first book of a series. I was waiting for the second one to come out and i am now hopelessly trying to remeber what it is. I read it with in the last three years.
