Rachael The general public of people in the countries I know view us as rich...and love Americans to visit and spend money. They believe any American is wealthy. The higher in society one goes...the more differing opinions one gets. One thing doesn't change....they all like our money.

James I've visited over eight countries for periods of four months or more, finding one country where the general public really liked Americans; and that was Italy (Italia). I thank it is because we call ourselves "Americans", rather than "United States-Cans. Even the Italians refer to us as "Usa". I was asked on many occasion why we call Roma as"Rome", Napoli as "Naples" or even come to the Italia looking for a city name "Florence".

Juris I agree with Kenny that it depends on where the people are viewing the United States from. Different cultures create different perspectives of the USA.

Stanley Who and what is "the world"? How do Americans see ourselves? How do we act when we visit other cultures. How well do we welcome other cultures into our world. The Christian is advised in scripture on how to view the world and what to expect from the world. America has done a poor job ob being world-class stewards, but we have an abundance of worldly goods so to whatever degree we may be despised by the world, we can scarcely accommodate the influx of those who would share our "world".
