"Those things worked well, as far as I used to think. My mom and my dad were perfect, and everybody was so happy with who they had, and I used to dream about who my soulmate would be. He would have blue eyes and brown hair and he would love to sing an- sorry, I'm rambling," she said, shutting up.

"Well, you'll get sick of me soon enough," she said, shrugging and not saying anything, continuing eating.
"Okay, so when I was younger, my friends and I would have sleepovers and we would all talk about our future soul mates, and I remember dreaming about it and constantly thinking about what we would do... I've never met anyone like they guy I fell in love with as a girl. And it's probably never gonna happen," she said, cracking a smile.
She shook his head. "Maybe he's dead. Whatever, I was a little girl, and it was a stupid fantasy," she said, biting her lip.
"If he was dead, your timer probably would just stop counting or would change times and count down to your death.." He commented.
"Then where is he? It went off the moment I met you, and yours went off before, so clearly there's something wrong," she said, frowning and eating another blackberry.
"I dunno. Mine has always been weird so maybe yours is correct and mine is broken." He mumbled softly, looking away.
She snorted, shaking her head. "I'm sorry, but are you suggesting that we're soul mates? We are total opposites. I'm sure you despise me, and I don't exactly like you either," she said, frowning.
Eli rolled his eyes. "My timer has never worked right. Maybe yours does. And maybe just because I may be your soulmate doesn't mean I'm yours."
"Fair enough. That'd be depressing, if you were mine but I wasn't yours. Anyways, I don't think I'll ever like you." She said, staring at the sky.
She smiled, studying his face. "You're actually pretty attractive, just saying," she said, finishing off her food.
Ella shivered. The fact her shirt was all ripped up didn't help. She wrapped her arms around herself, cursing the breeze.
"You sure?" She said, taking it. "Wouldn't want someone as naïve as me wearing your hoodie?" She said, grinning.
