"Little bit of both," she said, glancing at her timer. It was all zeroes. She glanced at him, not mentioning it.

Eli scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Alright then." He watched her for a moment, trying to see if she was a threat.
"What? I know I'm a mess right now, but staring is rude," she said, smiling innocently at him. She took her backpack off, relaxing her shoulders.
"Got your answer?" She asked him, standing up. She still needed to find water, but she didn't want to leave her 'soulmate' here.
"Ha, I can barely kill a fly." She said, smiling. She offered a hand. "Wanna come with me, or are you fine?" She asked him, biting her lip.
"Have you checked your timer recently?" She asked him, keeping her tone light as she began walking, looking at the ground.
Ella rolled her eyes. "Lemme see your wrist," she said to him, biting her lip. Ella's foot hurt from tripping earlier.
He showed her his right, timerless wrist. His left wrist was wrapped up in a tight bandage currently, hiding the fact that he's tried to cut the timer out..
Ella frowned. "Your other wrist?" She asked him, running a hand through her hair. She shoved her left sleeve up. "Like this," she said, showing it to him.
Eli rolled his eyes, showing her his left bandaged wrist, partially hidden by a knife sheath. He watched her.
"What happened?" She asked him, stopping to look at his arm closer. She ran her hands over the bandage, feeling the timer. She sighed.
Ella smiled at him. "Huh, weird." She said to him, not mentioning that her timer went to all 0 when she met him.
"Alright, thanks for coming with me. You can, like, go now if you want," she said, shrugging and glancing at him, biting her lip.
"So, you going?" She asked him, kind of wanting him to stay. It had been a long time since she had someone to talk to. She bit her lip, looking away.
"I thought you were leaving," she said to him, shrugging as she filled up the two bottles in her bag.
"Oookay," she said, frowning at him. "Well, I'm going to go back to where my camp is, so if you wanna come, then feel free," she said, motioning vaguely to her left.
Ella bit her lip and turned, heading towards her camp. She rolled her eyes. This guy was her soulmate? Good thing he didn't know, or she would've been even more annoyed.
Eli glanced at her before moving the sheath off of his wrist. He slowly and carefully unbandaged it.
Ella heard him. "No no no, that's not a good idea, no need for that," she said, running over and holding the bandage over the counter.
Ella smiled innocently, shaking her head. "Um, cause... I think they're really ugly?" She said, hoping he bought it.
"Haha, really? Ew, I didn't notice that, help me find something to cover it with?" She asked, trying to get him to not look at his timer.
