"Aw, you look nice smiling," she said.

"What?" She asked, seeing him out of the corner of her eyes.
"Okay.." She said, looking at him again.
She shivered, the fire shrinking. She scooted closer to it.
Eli nodded and tossed more wood in the fire.
She finger combed through her hair, suddenly nervous.
"My older brother started to do drugs, and when my dad was gone, he would beat his girlfriend," she murmured, wanting to tell him something in return for telling her about Luke.
"If he was here now I'd beat him up for that..." Eli muttered.
She smiled sadly. "She.. She used to protect me and Hannah, and she t-took the beatings for us." She said, biting her lip.
She bit her lip, not wanting to say anymore. She hadn't intended to share so much in the first place.
Eli didn't speak. He didn't know what to say
She smiled half heartedly. "At least I'm not crying. That would be a nightmare." She said jokingly, trying to lighten the mood.
"Yeah probably. I'm not good with tears." He joked.
She smiled, biting her lip so she wouldn't actually start crying. She felt herself choking up again.
She sniffled, blinking back tears. "No tears here," she said sarcastically.
"Nope. No tears today. Only good things can happen.." He said softly.
She wiped at her eyes, feeling tears in the back of her eyes. "Only good things," she repeated.
Ella crossed her arms, bringing her knees to her chest. She put her head on her arms, forcing herself not to cry.
Eli spoke softly to her. Knowing she was upset and trying to calm her down.
She took a deep breath, watching him. She felt upset, but the feeling was fading. "Sorry."
She wiped her eyes. "Thought you weren't good with tears," she joked.
"I'm not. But I'm good at calming people down..."
She sighed shakily. "Thanks." She said.
Eli nodded. "Yeah. You're welcome..."
"Tell me another story?" She asked, wanting to forget about her brother.
"Sure. About anything specific?" He asked.
"Your experience at school?" She said, shrugging.
"School. Oh what a wonderful place. No real stories there. I went to regular school till the start of high school then online school." He shrugged.
"Who did you talk to?" She asked, watching him.
"In school, nobody really. Talked to a bunch of people online though...."
"Yeah? They nice?" She said softly, biting her lip.
"Sometimes." He shrugged, looking around them.
"What do you mean?" She asked, scooting a little closer to him, chilly.
"some were nice. Others weren't." He explained simply.
"God, were they like... really mean?" She asked. Ella couldn't really sympathize, she had been fairly popular throughout her school years.
"They just didn't understand.." He sighed softly. "So they acted like typical people and treated me like I was less..."
