Editing on Amazon

Personally, I convert my manuscript into an ePub and upload that as my source file (not recommended by KDP).
I've NEVER uploaded a zip file. And I've reuploaded a ton! Every time a reader emails me with an error or typo, I whip up a new file and upload it. 20+ times for sure!!
Sorry that's not more helpful. I'm sure someone who does stuff the proper way shall come along soon ^_~
Hugs,
Ann

That's how I thought it did work. I've already done the edits on my source file figuring all I needed to do was upload again. Then Amazon starts talking downloaded zip files??
Serves me right for reading the instructions lol

you only need a zip if you have separate image files:
"If you don't have images in your manuscript, you can upload your HTML file directly without compressing it into a ZIP file first.duckduckgo.com search engine keywords:
We support unzipped ePub files. Before uploading, we recommend validating the file with Kindle Gen or Kindle Previewer."
amazon author help uploading files

+1
For reals, though, I *think* all you need to do is reupload. I just did it again a few days ago with my new cover. Plus, I made a few edits on the inside too cuz, of course, there's still errors popping up...
*commences self-flagellation of the serious nature*
If you preview your book, I reckon you'll be fine. Personally, I always check the cover, a few TOC hyperlinks, a random spot in the middle, and the last page. Meh.
EDIT: How is it possible that the dude who hasn't published yet is the most knowledgeable about shizz the rest of us should know? ROFLMAO!!!
@Awesome Alex: Hup hup!

I'm still in awe of all of you who do the formatting yourselves! Good luck with your edits, Eldon :)

Thanks for the info Alex!! I think I'll just try it the way I originally uploaded the file and see where that gets me :)

Thanks Marie!!
And honestly, I'm too much of a type A personality to ever let anyone else format my work for me lol ;)

*fist bump*
(Okay, I'm not even helping anymore. Heh. Sorry.)
@Miss Jen: Does yours only take a couple of hours? Mine typically takes around 4 hours. I've had other authors say 8. Methinks they're playing favorites...what's the secret, Miss Jen...? ^_~

he has a 2nd brain called the internet. plus, this is what he does for his day job: learn new stuff and then write about it.

Annie - I do my amendments between 10pm and midnight and find that both KDP and Createspace action them pretty quickly. Bear in mind that where I am is 6 hours ahead of New York time. Maybe they have more staff on at that time, or there's a lower volume of stuff coming through?
Or maybe it is favouritism... ;)

Hmm. That's interesting. Thank you for sharing!! I might try at different times just for the heck of it. I kinda wanna see if it makes a difference...
*dons lab coat**conducts random experiment**again*
@Mr Eldon: Hate to be nosey (not really) but did you get your edits done alright?
Hugs,
Ann

I have decided to make some minor tweaks to my first novel, Stillness. Now, I thought this would be simple but little did I know....
Does anyone have any experience editing their ebook files on Amazon? Does anyone know why the help page references zip files? I didn't upload a zip file in the beginning so why would I need a zip file now??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
