I really enjoy "scary" movies, but am never scared with one exception. Blair Witch Project scared the hell out of me. Still does. My husband and children made these "stick things" like they saw in the movie and like to put them around our house and yard for Halloween and I kill myself trying to get them down and hide them before they can put up more! Losing battle, BTW.

Oddly, none of our expensive Halloween props or pumpkins are ever stolen, but people take the stick things, not sure why..........unless I have a neighbor who finds them especially disturbing.
Kandice, the first time I watched Blair Witch Project was in the theater when it was first released. I went with a group of co-workers and afterwards when we were in the parking lot I suggested we all go to the county park with hiking trails in the woods. They all reacted with such shock and horror; it was pretty gratifying. I probably would never have suggested if I thought anyone was game for it.
I liked The Blair Witch Project when it first came out but now I'm sorry it spawned so many found footage horror films. :-(I had a small obsession with Freddy Kruger and the nightmare movies when I was a kid. One Halloween the man up the street answered the door as Freddy when my mother took me trick or treating and I screamed and started to run home. My mom had to explain to him the problem and he took off his mask for me.
Other than that. I agree with whats being said about scary versus gory. I prefer psychological horror films that make me think. I stopped watching the slasher films long ago. Except...there is a french film called Martyrs that is both. They've done a remake of it recently and it is a very decent remake in my opinion. The Tale of Two Sister is also a bit of both and is more psychological than philosophical like Martyrs.
If you're into finding new movies to see. I've found a lot on this guy's channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/lbhorror...
