Also, I was thinking today about challenging the community to practice by writing a synopsis for LOTR. The tricky part of the whole thing is getting it down to one page.

Thanks for the offer. I don't mind that you are also entering — I'm willing to trust other writers to act in good faith, plus it is up to me to decide what advice I want to take on.
I need to have another attempt at my draft synoposis and then I'll send you the link.

Absolutely - getting the synopsis to one page IS HARD!! /tears /bestrong

Make it a real challenge. It must be written in the voice of Smeagol

If in reference to the competition: It doesn't have to be one page, it simply can't be less than one page. I read it that way the first time too.
"Every writer can submit up to 50 pages of their unpublished work. Whether it is one chapter and a synopsis, or six chapters and a synopsis, the only requirement is that your synopsis be --- at least --- one full page. No previously published works will be accepted."

Wow. I need to learn to read.
Ok, good to know. I've actually gotten it down to one page, but it is far from ready. I'll DM you and Dash a link.
I'm preparing an entry in the Launchpad Manuscript Competition, and part of that requires a one page synopsis. I have zero experience writing synopses and am finding this challenging.
I found a great thread on Scribophile with help writing these: http://www.scribophile.com/forums/wri...
Now I'm looking for anyone willing to help me by providing feedback on my synopsis. Obviously, I'll gladly reciprocate.
Probably doesn't need saying, but reading my synopsis will involve reading spoilers for my novel.
Is anyone able to assist?
