Combine or Merge Alt Cover Art

Using the manual as a guide, I attempted to add alternate cover art to this book (ISBN 10: 0292776241). I was sure to leave the ISBN blank, use the same name and author, and add to the official book's description that it was an alternate cover version. It created a separate book but it did not add it as an addition to the first as expected.

I didn't want to mess up the original book entry by merging or combining without asking other librarians first. For this and future cases, how should I handle this? Thanks!

The alternate cover edition looks fine. I combined it with the other editions.

Using the "Add a new edition" link should usually add the book as a new edition. (Unless the page is refreshed or backspace is used when creating the new edition, which can lead to a separate edition.)

Combining a separate edition with multiple editions shouldn't be problematic.
