Why is R&J's story so popular when they didnt even have their happily ever after? What makes this a chick-lit? it should be on no ones like list because people THEY DIED! how is that an happily ever after?

It's not about a happy ending (in my opinion), it's about finding something you believe in and putting your entire soul on the line. This case just happened to be for love, even if it lasted only long enough for them to believe it was true.
