I started this book back in 2009, but I never finished. The original paperback had a black cover. A family moves into a new home and all seems well until a door appears that wasn't there before. The dad goes through the door only to find a dark hallway that leads to a dead end. As the books progresses the hallways leading from the mysterious door get longer and a labyrinth within the house forms, but the house itself never increases in size. I think at some point the children may get pulled into the dimension, but I'm not sure because I didn't get that far. There is also a second storyline that revolves around a man who may have an addiction (I can't remember exactly), and the book jumps back and forth from the family to his story. There are also numerous pages with notes scribbled and scraps of paper. It almost reads like a journal/scrapbook in some parts. I've been looking for this book for the last year and I can't for the life of me remember the name. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

House of Leaves? The part about scribbled notes definitely made me think about this book. I haven't actually read it yet to know the plot points (though it is on my to read list!), but it does definitely involve a house that is bigger on the inside.
