Karen | 10 comments Adult Fiction; people from earth sent to another planet but only the leaders know earth exists. The new village functions as an agrarian/tribal unit with no technology. The leaders make contact with the home planet but pretend it's magic or divination of some kind. I think the village is African but I don't remember. I read this in the 90's.

Isabel (kittiwake) | 132 comments This could well be one of Mike Resnick's Kirinyaga stories. They are set in a traditional Kikuyu village that has been recreated on one of Earth's colonies.

Though in that book, the village was on a space station, not another planet.
