Thehappymeerkat | 69 comments Ok, maybe nobody cares and I'm going to be accused of creating a spam topic here but how about an off topic place where we can discuss things that are...you know...off topic, as in, not to do with #ComedyBookWeek? All the best places have them (I think) so I'll start this with a question that's been bugging me sine I joined Goodreads....Does anyone care about my book status update? Does anyone care how far along someone is in a book? Do you like reading comments about other's progress? Seriously, it's a question that's bugged me for nine months!!

Joe Jackson (shoelessauthor) If the person posts comments along with them, pointing out "ooo, ahhh" moments or good plot twists, they can help sell a book, and it's better than cramming everything into a review. But I imagine most people probably don't look at them.

Jackson Lear | 10 comments I like status updates. I see it a lot on twitter with tv shows where people can't wait to talk about what just happened and it leads people into marathoning the whole season.

I also like it because it tells me where people stopped reading in a book, what may have been a weak chapter, and what I can do to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Robyn (robsvictoria) I used to only update my progress in terms of the page I finished off on, that way if my kids decided to use my bookmark elsewhere - as they often do, I'd know where to pick up off from.
But I have started including descriptions now, more so if I do stop a book, I'll know why and when I lost interest

Thehappymeerkat | 69 comments I feel like updating my progress on this book I'm reading only because it's taking so long. Maybe I should update progress in general for books I read but I wouldn't have been much help in updating 'Kingston Raine and the Grim Reaper' progress. Would have just been a bunch of 'omg, love this, can't put this down!' lol

Thehappymeerkat | 69 comments Today for the first time I've been met with the new look homepage. Anyone got an opinion on it? Maybe it's supposed to be better for mobile devices but I seem to need to do a lot more scrolling to see everything plus I'm a quotes obsessive and have no idea where the quote of the day is anymore.
